This Bermuda Housing Corporation report that has been leaked is pretty much a major mess.  There are lots of articles in the Royal Gazette about this subject, but basically what the current ‘rumours’ about what’s in the report say are that politicians, including the nation’s leader, used their positions and power for personal financial gain.

 

That doesn’t come as a surprise; happens everywhere.  What is a surprise is that this information has been in a police report for some time but has been swept under the carpet.  That, is not good.  

 

What a lot of gov’t supporters say is, “There was corruption under the old government. Why not make a fuss of that?”  I was taught in school that two wrongs don’t make a right.  And, personally I think this is perhaps worse.  The current government came in under the guise of being “for the people.” They were going to stop the corruption, they were for working class Bermudians.  The trust given them has been abused as badly as an altar boy in Nantucket.

 

Now, government is fighting to keep the media from reporting on this.  That is shameful, and will be viewed as an admission of guilt.
